Hi we are building a new home. The cabinets are maple with cherry glaze. The floors are light shade of oak. The table is light color and white birch. Would a brushed mickle ( pewter) or bronze chandelier and cabinet handles look better? Any suggestions on color of paint? Thank you

Hi there! I would suggest you go with the brushed/satin nickel because of the cherry cabinets. I think bronze would not be shown off to its best advantage against the cherry tones.

You don't have to continue with the same finish for your eating area chandelier. Depending on the look you are going for, and to some extent the paint co,or you choose, you could go either way here. Because of the light colored table and chairs, I almost think the bronze would look better here.

For wall color, you could go with buttery yellows, or You could go into the blues. Either way, look for more muted colors. Mother can be light or dark, but make sure there is enough Gray in them that they aren't too bright.

A couple of ideas below: Ben Moore Santo Domingo and Santorini Blue.

Enjoy the build, and the excitement of it all - don't let it get you stressed out

That is some fancy keyboard/computer you have if it thinks they is mother. I mean not even the same number of letters.

Well, I think I must have hit the M instead of the space bar. Then, the H E Y. And auto-correct came up with the next closest word to mhey.

Now, should we talk about the double meaning of condomary for the good folk who may have missed the discussion first time around?:)))))

Actually...my mother's hair was darker in the winter and lighter in the summer. And sometimes the gray only showed under a bright light.

Sorry one last question, if I do pewter cabinet handles on cabinets and bronze chandelier over table adjacent to cabinets, do I use pewter or bronze pendant lines over the island? Ty so much for your help.

You should try and stick with the same finish throughout the space. If you go with pewter handles then go with pewter or brushed nickel on the pendants and the chandelier. In fact, I was going to recommend brushed nickel over bronze based on your first photo/question. Good luck from Montreal!

Can you tell me if these colors are good together? Building a glass and tile shower. Wall tile is same on top of cream vanity. Floor looks a shade off but tile person said it matches. Was going to go with a lighter shade of glass tiger eye tiles. Rubbed bronze fixtures. Possibly light brown walls. Shower is really expensive so I really want it to look good. Can you help me please?

Good morning, klocurto! I'm glad you are OK with us using your thread to joke around last night. For a Saturday, it was a slow night on Houzz!

Yes, your pendants should match your eating area light, so ORB bronze for both sounds good.

The paint color may be discontinued, even though I was able to get it off the site. They will have the formula in the store, even if it is. The problem is that you wouldn't be able to get a paint chip for it.

Here is some more info on it - apparently, it's from their Classics collection, and there is a number that will help them find it.

You could always look for similar colors -'this one may not be the best match anyway. We usually recommend colors just to get people in the ballpark. It's really difficult to recommend based on monitor colors - and in your case, no pic at all.

But, hopefully, this extra info on the paint co,or,will help.

Can you clarify a bit on the tiles - which one you are worried is off? I do think the glass mosaic should be lighter, as I don't see the blacks/greys in it relating to anything in the other tiles.

But, if it is the other tiles you are concerned about, again, my monitor probably won't be able to pick up a slight disconnect in the colors - only obvious ones, as in your glass tiles.

The shiny marble looking tile is to go on the wall and the shower seat as well as the top of the vanity. I was planning on oil rubbed bronze shower and faucet fixtures. The second pic shoes the same type of style but not shiny. I was going to put this diagonal on the floor. Mod you think it will look good? Ty so much for any help you can provide.

Hi klocurto, I think it will look fine, but is just have a couple more questions - first, do you mean that the matte (looks to be 3X6"?) will go on the shower floor, or the bathroom floor, or both? The reason I ask is because shower floors are usually done in smaller tiles - either mosaic, or maybe 2X2" at the biggest. The reason for this is that the shower floor will curve toward the drain and it will be easier to work with smaller tiles.

If the 3X6" tiles will go diagonally on the bathroom floor, I think it will look beautiful. You are probably just seeing differences between the gloss and the matte because of light reflection. So, assuming this is the same manufacturer, your colorways, should be the same (again, don't want to completely trust my monitor).

The other question is about that glass mosaic strip you were going to do. I hope you will still do that - it won't be too much and, in fact, will make the other tiles look even better. You just need something a bit lighter, is all.

Picturing the ORB - and you said light brown walls, light vanity - I think your bathroom will turn out just awesome.

Good luck with it, and if you think of us, please post an After pic!
