Need design help for our living room!

I'm looking for ideas to change up the corner of our living room that currently has a plant on a wire stand. Something about it just feels very off to me but I'm not sure what could go there instead (if anything?).

Note that the full room picture is outdated (We no longer have that TV stand & have updated the mantle). I just wanted to include a full room shot and this was the only one I had on hand.

Thank you for your help! I look forward to hearing your suggestions.

the plant/pot looks too sturdy for the stand. if you want it there, try to find a stand that looks heavier.

A great ideas can be put television on a high bookcase. If you can send us plant or size we can try to submit something. (sorry for images but we have only huge system shoots).

You don't need the stand for the plant -- he's big enough now to stand on his own.

I agree that you should try the plant without the stand...

I think you have been depending too much on the plant to bring focus to the corner, instead of using it as part of the background to more interesting things to look at. That may be why you felt it needed to be raised, but it doesn't. I'd suggest as below that you use art (your mantle mirror is not bringing any particular interest to that wall) to enliven the room and just let the plant be a lovely softening element.

The panorama is from Fineart.com -- Megan Duncanson: Circles in the Sand. I no longer have the credit for the other piece, but I've used only a small part of the original work anyway, for its colour value.

Hi! Have you thought about putting a small stool where your plant was? I don't know if you ever need additional seating!

I refuse to say OMG, but OMG, Ngk! I do see that your plant is where it always was, but lower, and don't you think it looks much happier there? Now your room looks as though it just wants finishing, as in, with whatever art that makes you happy. I love it! With the turquoise, touches of gold/orange/bronze/even yellow.. and as you can see with my playing, I think reddish/pinkish colours would work too .... as in the art, maybe? Do have fun finishing the room, please! If you play with art you may even be able to leave the mirror where it is :-). Play a bit, it's a lovely canvas. Yay, I want to do cartwheels! (But I'm too old.)

I like what you have done.....now how about trying the plant (without stand) on the other side of the TV. TV unit can be moved a few inches closer to the fireplace...just a little bit. I would leave the ladder stand in the niche where it is. Looking good, but I think a pretty painting would look better on your mantel.

i would adhere some beadboard or white panel, and add a white mantel. and molding. i would loose the shelf on the right, and opt for an end table with a lamp. there seems to be no lamps in the space.

Lose the mirror. Art, more interesting stuff on the ladder shelf, a touch of orange. Move the plant out from the corner a bit for better balance on that wall.

what is behind the love seat? i see part of a bookcase, wondering if we can open up the seating plan a bit. do you use the fire place? is the front door there by the couch?

I like the idea of flair lighting with white mantel. Should you tend to use an art frame, I will integrate its major colors with throw pillows.

Repot the plant in a larger pot, so it doesn't need a stand. The yucca tree is looking like it's ready for a larger pot anyways.

Great -- it's so much more energetic and coherent -- and I love the colours in the art playing against the turquoise. Thanks so much for posting the update.

You should put entertainment center on the wall of TV, so that is solution for TV and plant because you can put TV and decorative items in the entertainment center so need to keep plant. see entertainment center http://www.theclassyhome.com/comersus_listItems.asp?idCategory=243&Furniture=Entertainment+Centers

Subliminol is right, the NES really tied the room together. Why did you remove it?

Hi you may remove the TV stand and hang it on the wall with a match shelf as per the other wall below it and remove the plant stand as well and add some small art work on the Sid of TV
