I used the Design Dilemma page to help me find great ideas on how to work with a nightmare layout in my family room. It also had a curved wall w/a cutout that was posing some challenges as well. I used a lot of the feedback I from this site and I think it turned out great! At the advice of fellow Houzz'ers I painted the room darker, added trim around the perimeter of the room, added headers above the windows and doorway and window treatments. Original post was HELP! I have a designer's nightmare for a 2 story room

Beautiful - the only thing I'd change is the collage of pictures on your wainscotting feels a bit too busy (for me). I'd choose one larger painting, and hang it from a ribbon down - centred over your wainscotting. Overall A+ job!

No floor plugs lee miller. I would have loved to have used them but my electrician said it would be a fire hazard since we have a custom rug and pad that would be in the way or we'd have to out a huge cut into the rug. We opted to run ext cords under the rug in area where it wouldn't leave an obvious bump.

This is beautiful!! I have not contributed to your dilemma but it is very nice of you to post the after pictures and mentioning this is the result of the help from Houzzers.

You did a good . If you paint it white between the windows it will look like one tall widow instead two . Glad you hung draperies . Hate when people hang them half way are leave the transom open.

A pertinent above the door like the windows have but higher would would help the door look higher, you need that with the high ceiling .
