Porch curtains

mamaysekMay 24, 2014
I got some very long white Lill curtains from Ikea, one panel for each corner of the screened in porch. Should I use them?

My thoughts: not white as you really don't have very much white in the room. I would go with a colour that blends with the wood colour. Panels in each corner - floor to ceiling.

I agree respect to not block the light. I am recomending use a translucid curtains, that allow to enter the light in a diffuse way.

HI -- Yes , the white curtains will add the freshness you need . I have done that with my covered deck and it looks very romantic . Add some more whites also with other items to balance the look. I have gone all white with mine with touches of natural tones ( wood ) and some color accents (cushions ) and plan to add small white string lights and also lower ( deck lights on the floor ) lighting for the evenings . I am also adding a potted palm or two and some Boston ferns

i agree with lefty, if you are going with white curtains you need more white items in the room to bring it all together.

I don't think you need them; the room looks finished as it is. And who wants to block even an inch of that beautiful view?

-- Agree totally with lefty47. The trim on your windows, doors and the railing seen through the screens is white, so it would make complete sense to use white draperies in your lovely porch. Love the idea of string lights which would add some drama and sparkle. Very festive. A few geraniums in pots on the tables would add some dash too.

Personally I don't feel they add anything. You have some nice clean lines going on with your porch as is. The curtains lose that effect. Is there a particular reason you wanted these curtains (privacy, sunlight). I love the views out onto your garden. I would keep the lines blurred between outdoors and in, and right now, your current set up is effectively doing that.

I agree with ASVinteriors, I don't feel the white curtains do a thing for that beautiful room. Take them back to IKEA and just enjoy the view. They are not needed at all.

Bring the panels back. It's always good to have an excuse to take a trip to Ikea.

Agree with above posters - they don't add anything to an already lovely area.

I agree they do not add anything. They are too narrow/small/thin for the space and size of the windows. They are not the right balance.
