You could not only store books in the bookshelves but also a wine rack or two and dishes/glass wear that you don't use on a daily basis! Like a china cabinet.

I like the pendant lighting, the shelves with dish wear, the stainless appliances, this is definitely one of my favorites, my only criticism would be the lack of windows/natural light.

dish rack ? leave out all the time
This dish rack is a great idea.
Clean your dishes. Seriously? You’re an adult, and you still pile dirty dishes right on top of the counter? I love you enough to claw your crusty food off a bowl because you left it there overnight, but please, make this stop! It takes five seconds to scrape, rinse and put a dish in the dishwasher
scrape the plate, rinse it and stack it neatly in the sink with like dishes — stack plates together and bowls together; put utensils together etc.
3. Clean your dishesSeriously? You’re an adult, and you still pile dirty dishes right on top of the benchtop? I love you enough to claw your crusty food
Storing your dish towels near the sink is a natural choice. They're always right there for drying needs. If you don't have a towel bar, or are a renter who doesn't feel like installing one, draping a cute dish towel over your sink works just as well. Just be careful

A special way to keep dog dishes out from underfoot. Dogbone drawers hold treats, leashes and other supplies. Pullout cabinet on left of island holds bulk dogfood.
Love the dog dishes! My dog is very messy when she drinks, is water damage a concern?
I don't put dog dishes on the floor in my kitchen either. JMO
Why would you worry about hygiene? Everything wipes right up just as if the dishes were on the floor, and the dishes are easily removable so they can be washed or put in the dishwasher.
fountain and then a gravity feed like the two part dog water dishes. That is where my imagination ends and the how to sanitize issue comes in. A good plumber is your best bet. Sorry, but I can't see this as a DIY project.

Portable in-laid dish drying rack for the sink?
more dirty dishes; can store under the cabinet when not in use
Dish drying rack that hangs on edges. Container Store has adjustable one
advantage of mounting a drying rack on the edges of your sink — as opposed to resting one on the bottom — is that you still have room for more dirty dishes underneath. If your sink’s manufacturer doesn’t make an insert for your particular model, try the Container Store’s adjustable rack, which is great
