The term "draperies" is usually used for lined or backed curtains with a fuller and heavier feel. Most
pinch-pleated draperies in a solid, neutral-but-not-boring, organic fabric such as linen or cotton duck. What makes this snazzy is the tailored folds created once hung.
Most draperies also fall all the way to the floor, whereas curtains tend to vary in length. This sitting room has floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides, so it needed protection. To get this luxurious feel, line the fabric with bumph — a flannelette fabric that increases insulation and absorbs external
tieback holds drapery fabric away from the center of the window. In this room the designer used a matching fabric sewn into a band to do the trick. Tip: For a more dramatic approach, use a braided cord or tassel to hold back your draperies.
