Porcelain tiles from Tile Depot with tile spacing at 1/16" which provides a clean seamless look. This spacing requires minimal matching cream and brown grout and the tight spacing means no grout maintenance. We had 3/4" custom solid oak boards made which we glued down with a commercial grade adhesive. 2

Love the wall tiles! Who makes them, please?
The tile is from Laird Plumleigh Studio. He is local to us in San Diego and we went to his studio and selected both the backsplash and fireplace tiles in person. The tiles are actually green. These are the backsplash tiles: http://www.lairdplumleigh.com/products_page.php?
