split entry not look like a split entry?
Several challenges presented themselves when designing the new entry/portico. The homeowners wanted to keep the large transom window above the front door and the need to address “where is” the front entry and of course, curb appeal.
With the addition of the new
cedar entry and garage doors added warmth and style.
Final touches of natural stone, a paver stoop and walkway, along professionally designed landscaping.
This home went from ordinary to extraordinary!

Great facade for a split entry.
adding some kidn of entry way if there is no porch
curved entry walk, open gable above front door
curving entry path, custom portico and natural wood touches give it more of a cabin feel. The look plays well with the wooded areas beyond the home and makes an everyday style look like a spectacular custom-designed home.

species for entry doors! The "hardest of the softwoods" is tough and durable; good screw-holding characteristics; resinous - not to the same extent as cedar, etc - but certainly Doug fir is a strong choice for exterior applications; takes and holds stain well; beautiful and quite uniform in vertical grain
