Exposed rafter tails under extended eaves (also, beams and corbels added as anti-hurricane feature to prevent roof
and a corbel detail were added
Exposed rafter tails borrow from cracker cottage style. With intense sunshine the norm here, the extended eaves help cut down on solar gain in the tower, and since hurricane winds pose a threat to ripping the roof off, a beam and a corbel detail were added.

With exposed rafter tails, you can still add gutters. You will lose seeing the rafter tail ends, but can still see the underside of the tails. You lose a little detail, but not much.
