Could you please tell me more about the stone used for the fireplace? Thanks!
I love this fireplace and mantel
How did you decorate the other side of the fireplace as appears not 2 sides (have this dilemma right now)?
Hi Jami! This cabin was torn down and rebuilt around this fireplace. The bottom half of the fireplace (up to the mantle) is original and we added fieldstone to match on the upper portion. Hope this helps!
In this photo you can just make out that the fireplace has the same large mantle on the opposite side. http://www.houzz.com/photos/775346/Woman-Lake-traditional-kitchen-minneapolis

Grouping the different-sized pieces together above the fireplace really created a wonderful focal point for the room. The fixtures are attached to a round piece of bamboo, which echoes the bamboo on the floor.

The couple balanced saving original features and removing those that weren't working. The fieldstone fireplace, cedar ceiling and black tile floor are original. looks like a 42 in wide fireplace. How much wider is the stone on either side?
No, we never share flues. There is a fireplace on the other side, but they have separate flues.

Just because a bedroom is large or has a high ceiling, that doesn't mean it can't be cozy. A warm wood ceiling, a fieldstone fireplace and layers of soft textiles (drapes, rug, upholstery and bedding) make this room a comfortable nest.
