your deck could have an opaque screen, or vertical garden
Don't need/love the color necessarily - but sort of like the sandblasted glass idea - and sort of like the fire pit idea, too.
A screen of sandblasted glass panels set in a steel frame hides a less-than-ideal view and shields the patio from too-strong winds while allowing morning light to filter through. Though white during the day, at night the screen changes colors from yellow to reds and
steel frame light up with LED lights for a colorful display. During the day the glass offers privacy, and at night it adds a spark of color to this fire pit.

On the other end of the spectrum, glass walls minus the ceiling will block wind without blocking all air flow, which is particularly helpful should you want to enjoy an open fire pit! court. At basement level, a stone retaining wall forms the backbone to two gathering areas; one with a curtain fountain and the other around a stone fire pit. Native plantings seamlessly tie the garden spaces together and provide year-round interest, both visually and in terms of wildlife habitat. Photography
Can you tell me how high and wide the fire pit is?
I can't decide between a 12" or 18" high fire pit, it will have a 5 foot wide finished diameter. I'm trying to put that into perspective with this photo. Thank you.
The height of the fire pit wall is 18". We typically design at this height so that it also functions as a seat wall when a fire is not lit. This height also gives some protection should any of the wood shift while burning. The diameter of this pit is also 5'0".
