Actually the plant is Thamnochortus insignis- Thrashing Reed is the common name.

metal fence looks great, but may be bad for sensitive trees and other plants
like this a lot- private, materials great, love the flowering grass (?)
(such as on the back of an island), so I love this fence. The tall, wispy plants stand out against the color and texture of the corrugated metal.
