Love most of the elements in this room. Although at some point i do feel that a lot is going on. Would like to de-clutter a bit but still a gorgeous and beautiful room.

Living Room Ceiling - love the art!!!
ornate room screens add glitz and Hollywood Regency style to this formal living room. Flanking the fireplace with them also adds balance and symmetry.

The formal living room is one of the only rooms left from the original structure. Gray Thibaut wallpaper graces the walls. Though it looks like raw silk, it is actually vinyl. Scrubbable, washable, and bleachable, the wallpaper is perfect for a home with young children. Photo by Mike Mroz of Michael
unused formal living room off kitchen
I have a formal living room off a kitchen and I would love to use the space but dont know what to do! We have a family den just on the other side of the walk through. What can you do with a large space?
parlor-type room. Just a few chairs, couch or settee for conversation and/or an evening drink. Even the new homes are making them smaller and smaller. If the flow makes sense, I'd say go for it. Good luck!

POssible chair style in living room?
: Too formalSolution: Tailor the room to your real life. Older homes especially are apt to have a "formal" living room in addition to the more laid-back den or TV room, and guess which one gets used more often?
