South border of the property, Lake Michigan is to the West. The rear of the garden is mostly shaded, but the front edge gets plenty of sun.

The front yard had no path to the sidewalk - the arch had been bricked up long ago. Along with a dead lawn it was as welcoming as a no trespassing sign. I opened up the arch and added a gently curving path to the sidewalk flanked by ethereal pink rose bushes (Cape Cod) that seem to be forever blooming
