7. Go wild with flowers. Another lawn alternative (though somewhat less water saving) is to go absolutely over-the-top with flowers. The classic cottage garden look does require some weeding, but it is well worth the effort for its cheering effect. Just be sure to choose flowers that bloom at different
different times of year, so your garden will never be completely bare.

Is there a design plan for this? What flowers are used?
Is there a design plan for this garden, and a list of what plants were used? Thank you.
What zone is this garden in? (And I am also waiting to find out which plants were used as already asked
think the white flowers in front are annual vinca (Catharanthus roseus), sometimes called Madagascar periwinkle. The purple spikes look to be annual salvia 'Victoria', and the tall orange flowers I think are annual Mexican Sunflower. All thrive in full sun.
I think the orange flower is an annual called
(Tithonia rotundifolia). Planted in spring after all danger of frost, it can easily grow to 6' tall in a matter of months. It's a great plant for cut flowers and attracting butterflies, especially Monarch.

A burst of color can be so welcoming on a front walk. Bright flowers can accessorize a monochromatic home exterior.
