I think it's very likely Opal Quartzite. I saw this stuff in person... Wow it's gorgeous, like gemstone quartz that jewelry is made from! It's very translucent with light coming through the crystal. I seriously considered this for my perimeter counters

What kind of countertops are these? I love the matte finish on them.
use dar, med or light color tile back splash. Lastly, I am very very rough on my kitchen counters and I love love to cook. I would love concrete countertops, but know tthat is not realistic-what do you recommmend?? Thanks, Judy
the less expensive fabricators are a "get what you pay for" company. There is maintenance involved. A good sealer is a key component to concrete countertops. Make sure that you know exactly what they are using and how to take care of it.
I think you need some items to lighten it up. Stainless steel appliances, a light granite or caesarstone countertop and a light tile backsplash - perhaps with some cut-ins to pick up on the cherry tones. 2x2 or 4x4s over the cooktop and/or sink. You could keep
