Addition/Remodel of Historic House in Palo Alto
What kind of door is this? Is it a standard sliding glass door or another type?
Hi- My use of moveable was confusing. Typical sliding glass doors have a fixed panel and a moveable/operable sliding panel. With this door, both panels move/slide and when the door is open - as it is in this photo - the door panels are hidden in the side pockets. This one happens to have an
something like this - but possibly with solid doors and or ones with translucent glass. The latter of these is what was used to close off a study in the older part of this house from the hall - similar idea. Thanks, Cathy
what do you mean that all the panels are moveable? I'm thinking of something like
a 1/3/2/3 division - the narrower panel slides to the left into the short section of wall covered by the drape - and the longer panel slides to the right into a wall section that continues outside of the photograph. I grew up in a house that had a 3 part sliding glass wall that slid into a hidden wall

Beautiful wood paneling, like an artwork
I like the lights inserted into the wall panels. Because they are placed in different places, the light really emphasize the random overlapping effect of the paneling. It is a beautiful accent wall.
says. The wood tones add the necessary warmth without introducing extreme colors. With the help of Adam Lehman of Greendarner Woodworks, the walnut panels were built as boxes and secured to studs through the drywall. The boxes were designed to have different depths and stains, and lighting was added to

How did you get the letters on the glass?
Did you buy the glass like that or add the wording?
you find a full frosted glass door, you cut always have the sign shop just cut vinyl to apply.
How do you get the words on the glass? I want to do the same thing only on a large door.
one solution would be to find a glass cabinet door you like and contact a local custom sign shop. have them cut a sandblast mask of whatever design/words you like and then have them blasted. be sure to do the mask in reverse cut and blast the backside of the glass, will make cleaning easier. if you
the glass etch that is sold at craft stores. It's very simple to use. You would need stick on vinyl letters placed on the glass prior to etching. It is an addictive craft. No worries about splotchy work the product does the work. If you want to practice first try a design on an inexpensive glass vase
