why glue down? Just wondering why not nail? I heard that glue down was just for heated floors, which I do not have. Would appreciate any more info, thank you in advance for your time.

a T-mold or similar applied transition strip. However, if you instead use a glue-down or nail-down wood (engineered is available this way also) then you can create a flush transition instead. Here's an example from one of my projects where I did exactly that. http://www.houzz.com/photos/1087813/SV
