Maple is a bit stronger than oak and shows less grain and striations, but it takes stain differently than oak because the base color is yellow. Maybe you could have your flooring contractor make some samples for you. That's what we did here -- samples were made until we got the stain color exactly right

The grain of walnut is kind of unique, and so the only other wood that I can think of that would be kind of similar in grain is alder. BUT you can stain white oak, birch, hickory and many other species this stain color
most of the large providers. The difference will be in the grain and figure but most people wont know the difference anyway.
These are walnut...but red oak floors could stain pretty close to this color and tone, just know that more grain will show.
is about the only wood that I can think of that would not take this dark of a stain very well~ it is too hard and even with wetting to open up the grain, it would be blotchy.

This kitchen was totally transformed from the existing floor plan. I used a mix of horizontal walnut grain with painted cabinets. A huge amount of storage in all the drawers as well in the doors of the cooker hood and a little bread storage pull out that is usually wasted space. My signature corner drawers

color with glaze. We don't want to paint the cabinets, but is there a way to put a glaze over the existing finish to change the look? I realize the grain of the wood is different.
oak kitchen cabinets, which are currently a light 'maple' shade. Diluted white paint was added to the stain to create a muted look. It does hide the grain quite a bit. We want to paint the cabinets off-white and then add brown glaze. Did you have this cabinetry done on site, or were they sprayed in a shop
Do you use a diluted wood filler on the grain first?
