windblown effect we expect from a grass. Flowers project a foot above the grass in summer and transition to a lovely gold in fall. Mass it or plant it on its own. Blue oat grass comes in blues and greens and looks best when planted in full sun, though it can be grown in light shade. Hardy down to 0 degrees

East Side Green Treehouse
Will this grow in shade? Under oaks & elms in Round Rock, West side? Do you know of any grasses that will? This is lovely stuff! Thanks!
Hello archadeckjuli, In some of the other pictures you can see there are a few trees on the site. The grass is still thriving today. The trees around the zoysia are cedar elm and oak. I would encourage you to contact an appropriate local landscape authority

Good choice for grass/ can be invasive
Use native grasses for lower maintenance
The texture for the grass! It is inviting to walk
This is way grass - lawns - should look, not 1/4" carpeting.
The grass, the wood materials, raw stucco
The residents share a central lawn planted with zoysia grass. "This grass can tolerate wide variations in temperature, sunlight and moisture," Hall says.

boxes at the front of my home in Philadelphia that get plenty of sun. I like the way Karley Rose looks and enjoy the movement in the wind. Would this grass tolerate being confined to a window box well enough?
Pennisetum grass is a very invasive, large plant to care for. Window boxes might be a little too small for something like this. Possibly a species of mondo grass or blue fescue (pictured). They stay in 6-10" clumps and are drought tolerant.
