Don't need grass around stepping stones. Could use a ground cover.

I like the simple clean look around the pool. Grass is great over concrete but I wonder how many clippings end up in the pool and on your feet?

This is sea grass. It's natural, organic, durable and pretty inexpensive. It is also hard and has, at least for a while, the odor of... well... sea grass. Sisal is a natural alternative, soft, no odor but significantly more expensive
That's why it's import an to try these things out, since people's opinions vary. (To me) sea grass is uncomfortable to walk on in bare feet and several of my clients have rejected it for that reason.
Sea grass, like sisal only very inexpensive, but also hard and it has a grassy odor that goes away in time.
