What is the ornamental grass? Will it grow in Columbia, SC?
On the right side of the path, there is a clump of tall reddish-brown spires. They are in front of the ceonothus, and in between the two grasses. I looked at many salvias, but none resembled the spires in the picture. Are they Heucheras? Continue to be in awe of this exquisite design. Thanks
Very Very Beautiful! I also live in the PNW. Will the Blue Oat Grass and the Thymus survive without watering during the summer? I am looking for something low maintenance and eco friendly. If they dry out that's ok -
The purple flowers are Thymus serphyllum, red mother of thyme. The plant in the center is blue oat grass, Heliotrichon sempervirens. The taller grass behind these are Miscanthus gracillimus, Maiden grass and also siberian iris, iris siberica. Hope this helps. Scott,

black mondo grass with chartreuse grass
black mondo grass contrasts well with lighter colored grasses and plants with fall foliage color change in plants
Unlike many grasses, black mondo can successfully grow in the shade. Whether planted under an enormous spreading tree or beside a massive boulder, black mondo can serves as a textural contrast to basically any plant or landscape design element out there — particularly lighter foliage colors in a bold
Bolder statements. Other foliage contrasts need not be so subtle. The juxtaposition of the black grass Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Nigrescens' against a Japanese sweet flag (Acorus gramineus ‘Ogon’) makes a real statement. Try being bolder with plant selection, contrasting plants
