stones/gravel on the driveway set in cement or loose?
I am considering a driveway with small stone and wonder if this is loose gravel or is it set in cement?
loose gravel is that it tends to make a lot of noise when a car pulls over it and over time the gravel reduces; not sure whether it sinks into the soil or just gets cleaned off with cleaning of leaves and dirt over it. I would like to hear what experiences others may have with gravel that sits on cement

some pea gravel and a little sand to help lock the pea gravel in place and to help control the dreaded pea gravel migration.
Pea Gravel - while working on the design Dawn wanted to create a green permeable patio and so she reclaimed the stones you see in the photo from another project where we had just broken up a driveway and walkway. First we removed approximately 5" of earth to allow for the thickness of the concrete

depth of gravel is laid here over the landscaping fabric?
in the gravel, which is set over a level base of compacted item IV and an underlayment of landscape fabric to help control weeds. The stones do not shift and are easy to shovel in the snow. We top dress the gravel and rake it out yearly to keep it looking just like new. I hope this helps. Cheers, Robert
laid the gravel to a depth of about 1.5 inches. If you add too much it will feel like "wading through jello" and will get kicked up and migrate tot he garden beds. Hope this helps. Good luck with your project. Enjoy, Robert More at www.WestoverLD.com

under the gravel? what keeps it from just settling/washing into the dirt and disappearing?
The flagstone is Pennsylvania Field stone and the gravel is 3/8s inch native washed gravel. No need for sand the fieldstone is set in the gravel. Good luck with your project. Robert

Pea gravel in back court yard......... great idea
Here's my gravel and the matching circle we talked about. Best part is we don't have to lay bricks! Labor intensive but not pricey. Possibility?
