raised hearth, and would like something similar to this, but not sure where to look to find it, and not sure what to ask for. So far I've looked at slate, but was interested in something lighter.
The hearth stone in this family room is Kasota Stone.

love the hearth, could you be so kind as to tell me how?
Keen to know if the hearth is tiles cut out or how it's made. Thank you so much!
The hearth is stained concrete. This home is over 80 years old, so I'm not exactly sure how it was made, but it appears that the diamond design was embossed while the concrete was still wet because it's all one solid piece. Good luck with your project!
I like the idea of the tiles in front - coordinate with tile in
colorful tile to the base. From a functional aspect, this will protect your floors from loose sparks. From a decorative aspect, a colorful, unique tile pattern will pull the eye toward your fireplace.
Eastwood Slate Fireplace Hearth
fireplace hearth was redone with beautiful slate tiles. I actually cut the 12 x 12 tiles into varioius sizes to create the design for the layout. This not only added to the intrigue of the hearth, but also allowed me to showcase more of the different colors that occur naturally in slate tiles.

a tile adds a modern twist to a more traditional fireplace mantle. Here tile continues down to the hearth, but you could easily keep your existing hearth material or change it out to a stone slab.
tile patterns; also, lots of different patterns in room...looks ok.
A fireplace is the perfect spot to use a tile you love but may have too much texture or is a bit too expensive to use in the kitchen.
Love the tiles and the look of the wood with the wood floor

Like the look of the 2 different sized tiles and the color.
like the surround not the hearth
Adding new tile to base and coordinating with surround is an idea
