Coastal Loft Study
DESIGN NEW ENGLAND magazine described Boston designer Lisa K. Tharp's Coastal Loft interiors - where Beach meets SoHo - as living like "an art gallery by the sea". Lisa's custom 9' tall barn doors, complete with authentic galvanized track mounted near the ceiling, are a strong aesthetic statement that

Thanks for your interest. I designed this custom wall of sliding barn doors to provide some privacy but allow light to pass between the study into the main living spaces. Doors are 9' tall and were built by Circle B Barns of Lancaster, MA. I used four doors

what you designed for your client is exactly what I am looking for my bedroom. Any suggestions? Thank you for your time. Beautiful work!
Mr. Abrams, I was inspired by another room you did and although not exactly alike, had the same concept and everyone that comes to my home LOVES my bedroom
make this design for my master bedroom. I wonder if you could suggest types of accent pieces for this room, and also what colors would you suggest which would keep in the warmth of this room? I have been looking at things like temple jars/vases but don't know what colors will compliment this décor. Your

recently blogged about the custom rope curtains here: http://blog.rethinkdesignstudio.com/2011/12/forget-me-knot/
"This home isn't about walls and constraints; it's about being communal and together as a family," says Joel. Instead of walls, curtains from Pottery Barn were hung from iron curtain rods with rope. The flooring material in the loft is painted porch-grade hardwood, which also cut down on cost.

Beautiful design! Can you tell me what material/color the white countertops are and are there any other more durable options for a brown island counter?
The designer wants to add a thick crown molding in white above my existing maple cabinets to take them to the ceiling (similar to the thick crown I. This kitchen photo). The Crown would also be added around the kitchen. Will it look good to mix white with Maple???? I am a little worried :-/
with this design? If not, would it be OK to change the floor even though the kitchen meets up with the family room which is also in vintage natural maple. I probably wouldn't change the family room floor color, but could use area rugs to perhaps balance things out.
