Actual Japanese bathroom has a floor with a drain in it and I just wondered if plumbing for a bathroom like that is expensive and practical. It would actually used everyday as a bath (ofuro) and not
Hello! Our company Concreteworks fabricated the bathtub and can fabricate the drains along the outside of the tub. This would be ideal for alongside a pool for overflow. We recently did a project like this where we created drains for the edge of a large patio for rain water. For more information

How does one design a "floor drain" to work properly.?
per foot. How the slope is applied determines the drain you are using (standard, trench, etc). When installed properly these drains are very effective in draining with no standing water. The Splish Splash shower system allows for the use of the drain without a curb and can be installed in the front
The Splish Splash Shower System is our proprietary drain system and is available to licensed installers. We offer classes for those looking to become licensed and the drain comes in custom sizes with optional remote controlled LED lighting. To have proper drainage

room. I am remodeling my house and the contractor said this can only work with a slab foundation, otherwise leaks will occur along the side of the bathtub due to the shower. Is this true? Or can this bathroom be made over a basement or crawlspace without leakage concerns?
Byaco's contractor has not a valid concern, he said "this can ONLY work with a slab foundation, otherwise leaks will occur along the side of the bathtub due to the shower." And this statement is wrong. You are absolutely right. There are many things to consider! And it may cost way more than a regular

This is the photo that got me busy writing this ideabook. I had never before seen a glass-sided bathtub, and this one completely appeals to my minimalist tendencies. The architect, David

does the tub just drain into the shower stall or is it on a separate drain
I think this bathtub http://edezeen.com/categories/bathroom/bathtubs/cala.html is similar with this one from the picture
How is the tub be placed flat on a drain run so that mildew, odor (from standing water) and mold do not form on the back side (against to the tiled wall) and around
How do you appropriately float the wet area floor to assure draining but have the tub on a flat surface?
How was the drain pipe from the tub waterproofed through the membrane? If you don't know. Do you have info on the tilesetter that did the work?
Thank you for your question! There are separate drains. If you are not working with a designer, we would also be glad to provide you with a consulation if that would be valuable. We want your space to

how did you get this shower to drain without a curb?
back to you on this question. The shower floor slopes to a slot drain which is placed at the bottom of the stone wall at the rear of the shower. The slab was poured/sloped specifically to accommodate this design. The drain is by Quick Drain USA - found under their 'Proline' series.

Thank you for the feedback! There is no wall between the shower and the tub - its an open room all sloping to a concealed slot drain along the rear stone wall. I cannot take credit for everything - American

Hi, are there two separate drains; one for the tub and one for the shower or does the tub drain feed into the shower drain? Thanks!
important to waterproof the tub's waste and overflow line (drain pipe) as it penetrates the shower floor. Learn how to do this here: http://no-curb.blogspot.ca/2014/05/flood-testing-wet-room-with-tub-install.html
i love the grey floor tile (if i can't have wood) and the bathtub floor should be stones instead of sm tiles and love the soft beige large rectangular tiles on tub walls
Waterproofing is vital in these installations. Your bathtub will have a 1½- to-2-inch drain line that will need to travel through your shower's waterproofing materials.
