I live in a loft in Brooklyn, a recent transplant to Greenpoint (love my neighborhood!). I work as a freelance writer, blogger, stylist, gilder, and crafter. Come December, I never tire of the month-long parade of string lights aglow everywhere you look. String lights are certainly festive and merry, and most often seen peeking through the branches of a Balsam fir or wrapped around a lamppost.
They also dress up a room with a magical light — everyone "looks good" under the soft glow of string lights. And in some cases, strings lights work in a space even after Jan. 1 rolls around. Here are some rooms (indoors and out) where string lights simply add a pretty, decorative glow that doesn't have to spell holiday cheer and can last year-round.

We found an excellent source for LED rope lights at www-dot-orangetreetrade-dot-com
They have many color choices from Warm White 2700k all the way up the spectrum to Cool White 7500k.
The color of your lighting will greatly affect how the room looks.
We use our LED rope lights for toekick lighting, cove lighting, cabinet lighting, shelving lighting, alcove lighting and much more.
The LED rope lights use much less electricity than old-fashioned string lights and are less likely to cause fire due to their low heat emission.

LED light strings are very energy-efficient, so you can often link up to 90 strings together on one plug - great for large scale events or lighting displays. LED rope light is also a simple option.
