The Power of Sunburst Shapes in your Home
I work as a blogger for businesses although I do a variety of different types of writing. I particularly enjoy writing about all aspects of design and creativity. I think that your home should reflect your personality and that it should change as you change. More about me at www.kathrynvercillo.com and http://diaryofasmartchick.com.

The sunburst shape is one of the most powerful shapes that I've ever seen in home design. It is strong and bold and yet it has a softness or lightness about it that is always stunning.
In fact, one of the great things about it from a homeowner's perspective is that even very large sunbursts are often very light and easy to hang. Of course, this depends on the material used to make the item but often the grand size comes from the long arms of the sun's rays which are actually quite weightless.
The most common sunburst shaped item to find in a home is a sunburst mirror. However, you will occasionally find sculptures and clocks in this shape as well.
What a beautiful piece to add to a home!

This sunburst mirror is one of the most popular images here on Houzz.com and it's easy to see why. The long spindly arms of the sunburst provide an interesting contrast to the solid stripes of the wall and furniture. What a statement piece!
This antique sunburst mirror is quieter than the first mirror in a lot of ways. It is smaller with shorter arms. And yet, it is no less powerful in its design.

In a room with many interesting things happening, this sunburst mirror still stands out. he thin delicate lines of the sun's rays combine to provide a beautiful graphic pop on the wall.
This sunburst mirror takes up an entire wall. This design is simple enough to do that in a way that is powerful but still appropriate.

It is rare to see someone use two sunburst mirrors in one space. The symmetry definitely works here, though.

The sunburst can be combined with stars and stripes to create an entirely different ambience in a room.

Sunburst decor can be very elegant. The way that this one is shown off among a collection of other special items is impressive. I also like the way it's set against the vertical stripes in the background.
This is one of my favorite examples of a great sunburst mirror. The circle shapes on the sun's rays make the piece even more dramatic. It was a great choice to set this gold sunburst against a dark orange background.
The unusual elongated shape of this sunburst mirror is definitely eye-catching. I love the way that the color and pattern of the piece is picked up throughout the room.
Here is a gorgeous modern take on the sunburst design. The glass and metal combo is seen in the lighting and table here as well but the centerpiece is definitely the mirror.
