Guest Picks: Geometry of Home Decor
The triangle was the hot shape of 2011, and it has no signs of going out of fashion. Here are my top picks around the web of items that incorporate the geometric shape in a variety of ways and styles.

Chestnut Folded Paper Origami Lampshade, Light Gray - EUR 89
Recently I've taken up a lot of paper folding, so both the geometric shape of this light and the fact that it's folded paper cought my eye. I love this shape; it's so classic, it could go with any type of interior. I like that it looks almost like an upside-down jewel too.
Bouquet for Kate - $275
I am simply in love with Lulie Wallace's work. I want to own every single painting in her shop. She marries organic textures and geometric patterns beautifully in many of her pieces.
Fair Trade Original Vaas - EUR 18.95
Because I just recently bought a book on paper folding techniques that look very similar to this, I'm in love with this vase already. It's a gorgeous textured piece (not terribly expensive, either) that looks to be just about the right size for a small handful of flowers or an entire bouquet.
Stellar Wall Mural, Lime/Mauve - EUR 30
I love this marriage of geometric and floral shapes. I would be totally comfortable putting this floral pattern in my home. It's not emasculating, and it's available in a variety of colors (some more masculine than others).
'Dimensions' Print by Lili Sadi - EUR 15
This is a pretty and simple geometric print for the home. I really like the muted tones and the pop of mustard. This would work perfectly on my warm gray walls.
Geometric Animals, Water Buffalo - $149
Instead of hanging real animal heads on the wall, hang these geometric animal forms that take a more modern approach. I wouldn't dare hang a coat or scarf on a real buffalo head, but I'd definitely do so to these forms. I'm totally in love with the orange color too! I want to buy one for my kitchen for hanging my aprons and hot pads.
Hairpin Coffee Table - $159
This coffee table showcases the triangle, the icon of geometric design/style, several times.
Deco Empire Headboard, Plum - $379
The plum color of this headboard is gorgeous and mysterious! I like the soft lines and the way they mix with very bold angles.
Kaleidoscope Patchwork Quilt - $149
I actually have this quilt atop my bed right now. I love the movement the triangles give and the bold (and unexpected) use of color. I also like that it ties into a much softer and more feminine floral underside. It's gender neutral with a touch of femininity, definitely not emasculating.
Pendleton Rainbow Apache Blanket - $198
Having a little Apache in my blood, I can't help but fall in love with this piece. Urban Outfitters definitely knows how to do the unexpected color palette too!
Collapsible Laundry Basket - $90
This wire laundry basket is adorable. I love the sharp, diamond-like angles of the wire. It has both a geometric and a vintage-industrial tone to it.
Chevr-on Point Mug - $14.99
The chevron was reinvented about a million times in the last year. This is a very fun take on it: a cross between herringbone and chevron. The varied shapes and colors are so fun.
Point and Cute Coat Rack - $69.99
Part of fashion's obsession with tribal style and more geometric patterns is the arrow. The arrow is popping up in all sorts of places: blogs, bracelets, clothing and now coat racks. I love this tongue-in-cheek way of displaying where your coat is — or should be.
Ziggy Chair, Gray - $349
This chair is available in a variety of chevron colors. I love it! It's got very little fuss, but it still has the bold, sharp lines that were so popular in 2011 (and even now).
Bar Graph Pillow - $45
Part of me wants the lines of the pillow to line up correctly, but the other part likes this unexpected twist on the traditional striped pillow. I love that bright and cheery yellow.
Panton Chair - $300
While this chair doesn't have any hard, geometric angles or lines, its sleek surface and shape just scream for a space with geometric accents. I love this chair!
Dawn Sticks Pillow Cover by Outside Oslo - $24.95
The Xs are such a fun way to incorporate some cool lines in your home without being overbearing. I love the bold colors and the angles of the Xs.
Wood Serving Boat - $0.80
This serving boat is the perfect way to beautifully present a simple dish at a picnic or when ordering takeout. Gosh, I'd even use these for decorating around the home. Use a bulldog clip on a wire on the wall to string up the cones, and place pretty little spring flowers in them for a very festive garland.
Raindrop Removable Throw Pillow Cover - $38
I love how the organic and the graphic are married beautifully in this pillow. If I could, I'd have Leah Duncan all over my house.
