Adding Vintage Posters to your Home

I work as a blogger for businesses although I do a variety of different types of writing. I particularly enjoy writing about all aspects of design and creativity. I think that your home should reflect your personality and that it should change as you change. More about me at www.kathrynvercillo.com and http://diaryofasmartchick.com.

Vintage posters are a very cool choice as art for the home. A poster is usually a large-scale piece of art so you can get away with hanging only a single item. However, a larger space can also look great with a grouping of posters hanging on it.

Vintage posters are often themed to travel, movies and sports. This allows the poster to be a true form of self-expression in the home. It tells people what matters to you.

Vintage posters come in all sorts of different color schemes. You can go with black and white posters or choose really boldly and brightly colored art for your walls. There is a lot of flexibility here.

Vintage posters can be found online, at flea markets and even at bookstores. Here in San Francisco there's a semi-annual Vintage Paper Fair where many people are selling old posters and postcards. Newer stores also sell vintage-inspired posters.

Is this an accessory that would work in your home?
The poster here is interesting but what really appeals to me about it is the great frame that was selected for it!
Old travel posters are a popular choice as art for the home. This old French poster is clearly perfect for a beach house. I love how it sits atop a vintage dresser in the same shade of sea blue.
Here is another gorgeous travel-inspired poster. Posters are so large that they make great solo pieces of framed art for any room in the home.
Old fiction books have terrific covers that can be framed as vintage poster art. What a great choice for a living room or library!
Old movie posters are a great choice for the home. They say a lot about your interests, passions and personality.
Here is another example of a movie poster. It's rare to see posters hanging on the exterior wall of a home, isn't it? How fun! I actually think it might look better if several posters were grouped together here. What do you think?
Sports posters are an interesting choice for an athlete or sports enthusiast. I love these vintage inspired posters. What I really like is how they are laid out in an organized grid pattern without bold frames.
Consider that a vintage map can be framed for the same effect as a vintage poster. This would be a great choice for a room that showcases souvenirs from world travels!
I love how the color of the wall paint is replicated in the color of this great poster. I also love that it's such a lighthearted fun piece in a more seriously designed room.
This is a lovely example of how a colorful poster can perfectly complement a colorful, patterned room design. I have a feeling this is a vintage-inspired poster rather than a true vintage poster but that seems to make it all the more perfect in this pretty room!
