The year is just starting and so are many new resolutions with it, including the one we usually give up on soon after we start: exercising. Why is it so hard to keep up with this resolution? Exercising can be fun, but it usually takes more from us than we want to give. For instance, many of us don't have the time to drive to the gym, so why not transform a spare room in the house into a place devoted to make you a bit healthier and more toned?
My ideal home gym would feel just like that: homey. I don't find exercise machines attractive. They're bulky, heavy and very masculine. To make a home gym feel interesting, I think you have to personalize it by adding beautiful things that don't make it feel boring.
Take a look at these great home gyms and my list of "Home Gym Must-Haves" to make any exercise area just perfect. After all, an attractive gym can motivate you to get out of bed and do an extra hour on the treadmill. — Luciane from Home Bunch
This one brings home gyms to the next level. It not only has enough space for all the machines you want, but also has style. I love the windows, brick walls and the shape of the ceiling in this space.
I love the unique details in this space. Notice how the TV is integrated on the mirrored wall, and take a look at the mirror board around the room. It's an interesting idea.
Take a good look at this home gym; it feels just like home! The curtains are great, and the cork flooring is one of my favorites for gyms because it's soft and warm. This space could easily be transformed into a family room with that built-in. It would also be great for resale.
This gym gets down to business with all the mirrors and the big machines. What I like the most about this space is the wooden paneled wall. It makes the space feel more earthy.
If you have extra money, try creating a space just to get ready for the gym and a sauna. I really like the colors chosen here; they make the space feel so fresh and energized.
Who said home gyms can't be chic? I can see this space in a New York penthouse. The floors are perfect with the white walls, and the lounge is incredibly attractive.
Home Gym Must-Have No. 1: Good Fitness Equipment You really should buy the best equipment you can afford. I'd recommend this line for its value and quality.
Home Gym Must-Have No. 2: Comfortable Flooring I highly recommend cork flooring for home gyms because it's comfortable, soft, very durable and so easy to clean.
Home Gym Must-Have No. 3: Mirrors Here's a stylish idea: use two to three floor-length mirrors on the walls instead of the tired look of mirrored walls. It's really practical if you ever move.
Home Gym Must-Have No. 5: Neutral Color Choose a color that makes you feel comfortable. Strong colors can give you a burst of energy at times, but if you spend long periods of time exposed to them, they can become very tiring.
Home Gym Must-Have No. 6: Table I'd like to see a bar table like this one in a home gym. What about sitting and drinking some icy cold water or a healthy smoothie after a workout?
