Creative Ways to Cope with Corners
Corners—every home has them. Do you see them as opportunities or problems? The corner have been given a pretty bad rap. If you misbehaved growing up, you might have been told to stand in one. Poor planning would almost always leave you backed into a corner or feeling cornered. You would certainly never want to paint yourself into a corner or worse yet, be accused of cutting corners. But corners are also opportunities—wonderful spaces where you can corner the market on creativity. Take a look at what I found, just waiting around the corner.

Corners on top of the counter are great places to store bulky appliances. Build a little appliance garage into the corner to hide them from view.
If you have an island in your kitchen, make the most of the storage space hidden there. This would be such a neat place to store plastic glassware for children, making it accessible and easy to reach for little hands.

This claw-foot tub is just perfect tucked into this corner. Imagine how static and boring it would be if it were aligned horizontally against the wall.
Corner chairs, sometimes referred to as "Roundabout Chairs," first came into popularity in England in the early 18th century. Most corner chairs were built between 1730 and 1790. There's been much speculation about why they were designed with diamond-shaped seats. It's been suggested they were designed this way so a gentleman could sit comfortably while wearing a sword.
Though corner chairs do fit nicely into corners, their uniqueness and intriguing design encourages one to place them front and center in any traditional decor.

A corner cabinet will really put that corner to work for you. So much better than just filling it with a big, leaf-dropping ficus.

Give a bedroom a bit of pizzazz by placing the bed in the corner instead of just flat against the wall. It's so nice to walk into a beautiful view rather than see just the side of the bed.

Jan J Here is my custom made corner cabinet that my Granfather made, that fits into the one corner available in my kitchen. It doesn't really go with my updating but since it is a family heirloom, I don't think it matters.
