| Amanda designed the living room to serve multiple functions. The sofa is a sleeper, so the room can be used as a home theater or extra bedroom.
The sofa is upholstered in a soft, cotton chenille fabric, and the ottoman is covered with durable polyester fabric that will hold up well to shoes. |

| The heart of the home is this large, open area comprised of the family room, kitchen, and breakfast room. Amanda used commercial grade fabrics throughout the home. All of the flooring is 24-inch tile, except in the bedrooms, which are carpeted. The chairs in the family room are upholstered in a high-grade leather while the bar stools are covered with a woven vinyl that looks and feels like leather. They easily hold up to spills and wet bathing suits. |

| The master bedroom makes a beautiful statement with a grand 4-poster bed and custom bedding. The ottoman provides a place to unpack a suitcase or to sit for putting on shoes.
All the windows throughout the home are covered with woven shades and lined with black light-blocking fabric. The desk is handmade from leather. It provides a quite spot for the owner of the home to work or enjoy his early morning coffee and paper. |

| Can you just imagine relaxing in this luxurious tub and gazing out at the mountains in the distance? The surface around the tub is granite; the sides are covered in slate tile. |

| This bedroom was designed with the daughter of the owner in mind, so Amanda gave it a more feminine feel. Note the gorgeous iron headboard found at a yard sale. The bedding and accessories are from Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel. "You can get a great look and it doesn't have to be super expensive," she says. |

| This guest bath is designed with a marble top counter and a beautiful lamp with an alabaster shade. Amanda didn't miss a single detail when creating this lovely bath for the owner's daughter. She even included bars of soap embellished with the daughter's monogram. |

| This bedroom was designed for the owner's son. Amanda chose a leather headboard for a more masculine feel. Beautiful custom shades and pillows complete the room.
The ottomans are storage ottomans, offering additional seating and space for guests. |

| Outdoor rooms are very much a part of the good life in the warm climate of Las Vegas. The coffee table is made from a durable resin that has the look of marble. |

| A swimming pool is another common feature here. The soothing, trickling sounds from the infinity pool make dining poolside very relaxing. The home was built on a hill to take advantage of the breathtaking mountain and lake views.
At the close of our tour, I asked Amanda how she became interested in interior design. She shared that prior to going into the design field, she had been planning on a career in medicine. But once she worked for a family friend who was an interior designer, she told me, "I was hooked." After working with a big design firm in Sacramento and Las Vegas, Amanda opened her own firm, AB Home Interiors in Brentwood, TN. |
Becky...great eye to spot those! :)
Amanda...thanks so much for a great tour!
As usual, another great post from you!
Excellent work!!

I love that great room, but I think they missed it when they put those red chairs with that color of wood on the table. I know the post is about kid friendly surfaces, but I have to comment when I see something wrong with a design. Not that I'm a designer mind you. LOL
I have pets and the only fabric I find that is indestructable is heavy duty microfiber. Cleans up with a swipe or vacum and the cats don't like to scratch it.
Just wanted to let you know, the home has 24" tile in all the common, high traffic areas...only the bedrooms are carpeted. The carpet is also treated to be stain resistant. Thanks for all your comments!
All the rugs are indoor/outdoor and can be hosed off. If that isn't kid friendly I don't know what is! LOL!
Leonardi-The rugs came from a company called Hellenic. They were out of New York but unfortunately did not fair the economy and have since gone out of business.
The paint is a scrubbable eggshell. Several fabrics are commercial and many indoor/outdoor sunbrella's.
In the main hub the stools and dining chairs are commercial grade vinyl, and the limed oak dining table was selected to withstand everyday meals, homework, or coloring with ease.
Hope this helps!
