Guest Picks: Cool Items for a Teenage Boy's Bathroom
Industrial elements and helpful gadgets make these bathroom choices winners with the boys
When it comes to design, boys are often overlooked in homes — or is that just my house? My own is now a teenager and doesn't seem to protest the bright, primary colors of the bathroom walls or his bath towels stitched with a sailboat under his sweetly embroidered name.
Does that mean we shouldn't update his look? Come on, parents, let's put away the superhero shower curtain and give our boys a bathroom that is just as cool as they are. — Shannon From Shannon Berrey Design

I love the scale of the clean and simple stripes on this handsome shower curtain. And we can't forget the added bonus of 100-percent cotton!
This handsome vanity is so sleek, I can see it living happily in a modern or rustic-industrial guy's bath.
These matte, black sconces would be the perfect pair to flank the bath mirror. Even if your guy grows well beyond 6 feet, you can continue to adjust the pivot.
This subtle herringbone reminds me of a great suit! I love that it's reversible and cotton, which means it goes right in the washer.

A beautiful wood floor could just put his bathroom over the top, right? Sound impractical? Not when it's porcelain tiles that look like warm planks of walnut! Gorgeous.
This raw steel cabinet would be the perfect piece to hold extra shampoos and soaps. At just 27.4 inches tall, it could easily stand beside a pedestal sink.
If installed in my son's bathroom, I am fairly certain I would take the title as the coolest mom ever.
If these blackened cast iron animal hooks could entice the hanging up of a wet towel, then that would be fantastic. Honestly, I like these so much that I wouldn't mind even seeing these bear — erm, bare.

Boys have dirty clothes, and (fingers crossed), if you gave them a cool hamper like this one to toss them in, they just might.
The size and heft of this brush can surely scrub away "boy dirt," right? And it's pretty darn handsome to boot!
These are kind of awesome: reusable, long lasting, easy to care for soap that is extremely cool. Maybe, just maybe, my son would wash his hands more often?
I love the vintage schoolhouse vibe of this large clock. There's no excuse for being late with this hanging on his bathroom wall.
I love anything nature inspired, so this lovely carved soapstone tray is high on my love list. It even aids in the extra-moisture problem with the drain holes.

This is for the teenager who is so hip even his mouthwash needs to look cool. You can store it in this decanter and let it sit right on the counter.

Don't you wonder why it hasn't already cracked in two? No longer do we have to hear it throughout the house — the slam of the toilet seat. This soft-close seat is an excellent investment.

This small tool is smarter than it looks! Once it's programmed, It blinks when it's time to turn the water off. No more fearing if the rest of the family is going to be left without hot water as a result of your teenager camping out in the shower. This little stone brings warmth to the whole family and conserves water.

I certainly can't control what goes in, or out of, that mouth, but I know that a boy will use his toothbrush and simply throw it in a drawer, wet. Gross. This stealthy nugget can help me help him keep those germs out of that pie-hole.
Boys like tunes, so why not let them enjoy music while getting their bath on?This wireless speaker cranks out any of his favorites and can go anywhere.
This bathing bar is perfect for exfoliating all of the basketball sweat and football dirt off of your boy. Plus, this natural soap contains antioxidants and a creamy moisturizer, which make it perfect to use as a shaving soap too.
I love these towels! They are so soft and super absorbent. The small edge detail is handsome enough to not draw any opposition from your guy.
I am so ridiculously excited about these two-toned towels of lovely chambray and terrycloth. Towels are a staple in the bathroom and are a great place to show some flair. These towels have a vintage, worn feel.
