| Look for WaterSense to be a hot trend for 2012. This conservation program, created by the same agency that brought us Energy Star, will eventually be as well-known. This is going to be a big year for the program. Last year it was hard to find a shower head with the WaterSense label. This year numerous companies are offering them. In fact, Home Depot reports that they are now selling only WaterSense-certified bathroom sink faucets. Last but not least, new toilets that use 1.28 gallons per flush, like Kohler's new Tresham, are qualifying for the WaterSense certification. |

At the high end, integrated toilets are the latest bathroom trend. While the typical homeowner will not spend $4,000 or more on a toilet, the features they include, such as integrated music, lighting and personalization are likely to be seen in more affordable models down the line.
Interesting sink materials will be a hot trend this year. Glass, basalt, metals, bamboo and other unique basins will show up in high-end bathrooms.

Rectangular sinks will continue to be hot in 2012. Look for them in unique finishes as well as traditional whites.

Square-shaped and clean-lined faucets will also be a hot trend this year.
These will be especially popular in transitional bathrooms, but you'll also see them in traditional bathrooms and in contemporary spaces like this one.

High arcs in faucets are trending up, too. You'll find them in contemporary styles, like this one, and in more traditional styles with double and single handles. In other words, it will be easy to find a high arc for your 2012 bath update.

Fine Art & Portraits by Laurel Love the rustic look, but why a white toilet, when dark colors are available? One of my clients has $3,000 bidet toilets (wash and dry!) in all 8 of her bathrooms.

kiwijacqui The high-arc faucet is very nice, but a word for the wise: make sure you check the angle the water will hit your basin at, vs the angle of your basin. Under medium-high pressure some faucet/basin combinations will create a rather unpleasant water feature.
