This is one of my favorite ideas ever. The sturdy shelf that hands above the table here is beautiful without being obtrusive. It's a good place to store candles in a visible, artsy way. And of course you could light them and eat by candlelight. I love it! Do you?
A modern chandelier or light fixture that hands down close to the center of the table is a great ideas for any dining room. You want to see what you're eating and the light allows for that. During the day, the chandelier itself serves as a statement piece for your decor.
You get the best of the last two ideas with this choice here. It's a chandelier that holds candles which can be lit to allow for that romantic candlelight dinner. Classically beautiful.
What about adding some hanging art from the ceiling above your dining room table? I think these are actually lights here but they would work just as well as an interesting part of the room even if they were just art pieces that didn't light up.
What do you use to cool off your home during the warmer months of the year? You don't want to be overheated while eating so it's a great idea to hang a ceiling fan over your dining table. This is particularly true if you have a dining table near an outdoor area but it's great anywhere that you'll be eating.
Not everything that goes above your table must hang directly into the center of it. A full wall display that hangs on the wall above where you dine is another great way to create an interesting dining space. I love a wall filled with personal picture like this.
What you hang on the wall doesn't have to be photos. It could be interesting artwork. The more creative the better I'd say!
This funky dining area gave me the idea that you could hang fabric above the ceiling over your dining table. There used to be a coffee shop that I'd go to in my hometown that had hippie-style tented fabric hanging down from the ceiiling. It created great ambience. It wouldn't work in my house but I think it's a great idea for someone to use!
I have always wanted one of these things that lets you hang your pots and pans up in the kitchen. They're easier to grab and they make the room look really neat. I'd definitely do it if I had a set of great copper pots like these! It's not directly above the table but it still works.
Some people don't eat at a dining room table. Instead, the eat at a kitchen island. This is great because it lets the person who is at the stove be a part of the group while they're eating. If you've got a set-up like this then I think the best thing that you can do is to get rid of your boring old cooker hood and replace it with a neater design.
