A pair of overstuffed floral chairs with a shared ottoman is a great spot for two to enjoy reading, watching a game or better yet, catching up at the end of the day. Walls overstuffed with art and shelves stuffed with books add to the comfortable feel.

Overstuffed and comfy is not limited to darker colors; light colored fabrics layer a coastal look over all that stuffing.

This may be the picture I've seen featured the most on Houzz over the years, proving the timelessness of cozy done in a beautiful way. Fireplace, slipcovers, autumnal throws and a seagrass rug add layers of comfort.
French doors with transom windows flood this comfortable room with light. There are plenty of places to sink in and stay for awhile here.

I once heard a photo stylist explain the difference between "eclectic" and "collected." This room is definitely the latter; it's a mix of carefully selected pieces and features classical architecture. It also has the most inviting-looking sofa around, complete with casually tossed, unmatching throw pillows.

Weathered boards also bring in a cozy cabin feel. The cushy yet well-tailored furniture keeps the overall look sophisticated. See more reclaimed wood in action

It's funny, I grew up in a tract house in Ohio that was new when we moved in, but when my family moved to a suburb outside of Boston, we were all excited to find a house that was built in 1810, complete with very odd quirks, small rooms, and lots of fireplaces. My parents had always collected antiques on their own and filled the house with hand-me-downs from older generations. It was such a comfortable house that it's always stuck with me, even though I tried to rebel from that sort of style for awhile, it's the type that makes me the most comfortable.
Oh, and I wish I had some English relatives that would host me for three months - sounds dreamy!
