New Classics: Woods Wallpaper by Cole and Son
The popularity of this soothing forest-themed wallpaper shows no signs of waning
I still remember the first time I saw "Woods" wallpaper. It was in a small picture in Domino, and I immediately cut it out and started plotting which room would be best for it. Since I am very disorganized, I only got as far as talking with some supplier in Philadelphia and then never found a wallpaper hanger (at the time, the wallpaper was so unpopular that the biz had become all about removal, not hanging). Bottom line: I have no "Woods" in my house.
I digress; it's been crazy watching how popular this wallpaper has become. In fact, if someone wrote a thesis about the current resurgence in wallpaper's popularity, I bet they would track it all back to "Woods." See how designers are using it every room of the house.

This beautiful dining room borrows its soothing feel from the forest, with its light mossy upholstered chairs, matching ceiling, and wall of "Woods."
This kitchen's mid-century modern feel is made a lot more interesting by the addition of this paper. There's a fun play between all of the wood surfaces, the views of the trees through the windows and the gray-and-white image of the forest on the paper.
The white on black version of this paper makes a powerful graphic statement in this small powder room. Also, its vertical orientation accentuates the height of the room.

The wallpaper offers the eye a place to rest in the large contemporary open floor plan of this loft.
Side Note: A flat screen floating in the trees seems like fodder for some sort of crazy post-modern poem or something, doesn't it?

The pattern works in a totally different type of entertainment room, in this case a very fun retro one with a lot of patterns happening and, most important, a rockin' Star Trek TNG pinball machine.
The imagery of trees is a great contrast to the overall industrial vibe of this loft's hallway.
Slender trees are just the right adornment for this narrow wall that separates the dining space from the kitchen.
"Woods" is a cozy choice for a powder room in a Vermont farmhouse.
Moving upstairs, this clever person has bedecked the stair risers in "Woods."

An accent wall behind the headboard is the best way to use this paper in a bedroom on a budget. The pattern works really well with a pop of color, such as the bright blue comforter seen here.
This paper is also a wonderful choice for a child's room. Here it provides a great backdrop for a mix of brightly-colored patterns and a stuffed animal collection.
Woods Wallpaper, Coral - by Cole and Son
While neutrals are most popular, "Woods" comes in quite a few color options. This coral version is available at Anthropologie, while others ranging from a soothing purple to an intense magenta can be viewed on the Cole and Sons site.
