With Thanksgiving right around the corner, dining tables are on everybody's mind. Functionally, I love round tables - I like being able to see everybody's face. Aesthetically, though, I am all about long, narrow, picnic-style tables.
There's just something so pleasing to me about a super-long table, set for dinner for, say, twelve. Especially when that table has a few rustic elements - when it's picnicy (even if it's pretty and indoors).
Here are some great examples of picnic-style tables that have been taken to the next level:

A black and white palette and amazing chairs take this table, benches and all, from backyard to sophisticated.

Sometimes all it takes to dress up a table is a little bit of accessorizing. This table could be plywood and it wouldn't matter - the tablecloth and dishware make it fabulous.

I love the juxtaposition of this rough wood table with teh very fancy chandelier and room detail.

The individual elements of this room are entirely traditional, but somehow when combined, they feel modern, thanks to their no-frills profiles
Low barstools are a cool mix between benches and chairs.

| This square table is picnified by benches...but they look so comfortable. |
| I love the narrow stature of this table - the proportions are so cool (and perfectly balanced by all those round mirrors. |
