Lamp pairs give symmetry, color and personality to a space. Using beautiful lamps in pairs is one of my favorite design tools, and I have a great time finding pairs for my projects.

Although there are lots of gorgeous new lamps on the market, I always find myself looking for vintage lamp pairs. I find that vintage styles are incredibly unique, colorful and special. And you can often find a vintage pair for a fraction of what you would pay for a new lamp.

Etsy is a fantastic resource for vintage lamp hunting. I just bought a pair for myself via Etsy and thought I'd share other pairs that caught my eye during my search!

Sunshine in a lamp pair! I see lots of yellow when searching for vintage lamps; it's a natural choice for an object that brings light and warmth to your room. This pair has a classic chinoiserie silhouette and a happy hue that I wager looks great in any room.

Pair Mid Century Large Ceramic Lamps Aqua Teal Crackle Finish by Go Go Thrift - $170.00 »
Vintage lamps tend to have very cool shapes, and this pair is a great example. I love the fluid, elongated gourd silhouette. Done in a soothing blue, these would be perfect as a matching set in a master bedroom — they're not too masculine and not too feminine in a color with neutral-friendly appeal.

50s Modern Hollywood Regency White Murano Gold Fleck Table Lamp by Fabulous Mess - $2,495.00 »
These are another fantastic example of how vintage lamps come in the coolest shapes! Tell me these lamps wouldn't be killer in your living room. These definitely make a statement, though in a subtle way because the color is pretty tame. The shape screams style on its own.

I was drawn to the beautiful color of this lamp pair. I think this stately powder blue would look marvelous in a wood-paneled library or formal sitting room. I especially like how the lamp bases continue the color of the lamp body. They're very pretty.

Vintage Ginger Jar Lamps Orange Hollywood Regency Lamp by Fab N Forgotten - $150.00 »
Hello, orange (my favorite color)! Orange definitely had its heyday in the '60s and '70s. Even so, I don't come across a lot of orange lamps. This pair is so simple in shape yet so dazzling in color. They would be the perfect pop in a neutral or modern room.

I think this pair might be my favorite in this ideabook. They would definitely be the focal point of your room. The dark-hued swirls on the two-tier shades are so artful. You wouldn't need much else by way of art and accessories in a room with these lamps.

Pair of 1950s Lamps With Gold Stars and Speckles by The Vintage Supply Co. - $350.00 »
These lamps epitomize the vintage lamp trifecta: cool shape, cool shades, cool colors. It seems like designers loved to take some risks with lighting back in the day, and I love the results. A fun turquoise paired with green brings a nice dose of color to a room. I'm thinking a den or maybe a boy's bedroom?

Pair of Hollywood Regency Vintage Faux Bamboo Lamps by The Vintage Supply Co. - $225.00 »
Brown is definitely not a color I see often in lamps, but this pair with its bamboo detailing would be perfect for a child's room done in a preppy brown and pink or brown and aqua color scheme.

Pair Mid Century Rare White Glazed Pelican Lamps by Paris Couture Antiques - $1,175.00 »
These are gorgeous. And expensive! But these lamps are likely worth the price, as they took my breath away when I saw them. What kind of lamp shade would you put on them? I was at a loss because I thought they were so beautiful on their own. They would be really, really striking for a bedroom (like mine) or a living room.

MidCentury Space Age Lamps by White Horse Black Horse - $95.00 »
Every room needs a touch of black. That's one of my few design rules, and these lamps would be perfectly at home in almost any scenario. I would perhaps pair them with a gold lamp shade, or perhaps a black lamp shade to create a monochromatic look.

Matching Occupied Japan Victorian Porcelain Figurine Lamps by Tea Rose Fashion - $49.00 »
Do you love or hate these? I know figure lamps can be pretty kitschy, but I think using them in a non-kitschy environment makes them fun and whimsical. I especially love the colors used in this pair. They would be adorable in a nursery or fantastic in the living room of a single gal with a sense of humor.

I really dig lamp pairs that have that cool color-glaze effect. I especially love the depth of color in this particular pair. And the shape, again, is awesome. I think these would look fantastic with black lamp shades to play up their drama.

Pair of Vintage Floral Motif Ginger Jar Ceramic Lamps by URBAGE - $52.50 »
There is a yellow-hued bedroom somewhere that needs these lamps. In fact, I would use these lamps as the starting point of a yellow bedroom. Mint walls, yellow silk curtains, gingham check pillows in spring green, beautiful wood armoire — I can see it now.

Pair of Hollywood Regency Jade Green Lucite Base Lamps by Duchess Fare - $300.00 »
The deep shade of jade is what caught my eye on this lamp pair. Although I think chinoiserie as a style leans toward the feminine, this lamp pair seems very chinoiserie in a masculine way. A classic and timeless pair, these lamps will never go out of style.
