Before designing nurseries, I ran a children's design boutique in Beverly Hills. With two small children of my own, I believe firmly that the environment surrounding a child hugely contributes to their creative and emotional development.

Feeling [Wonderfully] Blue (5 comments)
A brighter shade standing out amongst the white. A perfect mix of sophistication and vibrance for this classic and festive entrance.
Blue Christmas door
Sometimes all it takes is a touch of color. This cool blue hue gives the perfect sleek touch to this streamlined table.

Light and soft, blue mixed with this buttercream gives a weightless sophistication. The painted wicker is a nice extra touch.

Powder blue, keeping the room bright and subtle and versatile--not too masculine, not too feminine.

The furniture adds a smooth cohesive look through this eclectic room.

A bright Tiffany's blue provides enough visual interest on its own--allowing this room to be beautiful in its minimalism.

Warmer reds--the colors on the other side of the color spectrum--balance this light blue shade perfectly.
Ally's Room
Here blue is almost a neutral for the room. It goes well with the whites and darker browns, and would also go well with any other color, really.
Wallpapers
The color can be surprising and uber chic in unexpected places.
Elegance & Decay
And through unusual mediums such as this miniature tiling. Love the balance of the light wood.

This unusual door is made even more unique with its color. What a beautiful (and relatively simple) way to incorporate color.

And this ottoman, man! Sometimes with such a wonderful color, all it takes is one central focal point.

This color reminds me of what I want to do next spring. We live above a creek. We literally have a 45 degree angle backyard that meets this wonderful creek. We cleared an area and mulched and next spring I plan on putting a table and 2 chairs down there and painting them turquoise.

Incorporating a pale aqua-blue into my home has brought the sea home to me...even though I live in a farmhouse (5 min away from a lake, tho!). Whenever I look at a blue piece in my house, whether it's an antique seed glass vase or a distressed "Beach Cottage" sign above my pie safe.....I'm living my dream of a seaside cottage home. (sigh) Someday......

We designed a cobalt blue stair to contrast with the light streaming down from the skylights and the birch sliding louvers to modulate the reflected blue light.
