New Classics: The Ikea Maskros Light

This lamp is actually better looking in person. Alas, as it hangs, the paper blossoms loose their stiffness and start to droop. But, for the price, you can always get another one! Love it!

It is very cute, but I can't help but wonder how you get the cobwebs/dust off of it- looks difficult to clean/fragile.

I've wondered the same thing as dotknot about cleaning. My guess is a can of "air" spray like you use for keyboards.

Every time I go to Ikea I stand in awe of this beautiful light. I hinted heavily for one for Christmas but it never appeared. Damn Santa anyway!!!

I think this light is fantastic and I've been looking for right place to use it for years. It reminds me of a dandelion "wish flower." Macy's was using it all over the place for their fall displays. It is surprising when you see it in person and realize how featherlight it is with a simple yet exquisite design made out of plain paper.

My house is on a designated "natural beauty road" which means our dirt road, though in the city, can never be paved. We are lucky but the dust means I can never have this lamp! :(

I loved it when I saw it online but when I went to Ikea It wasn't what I expected, I might still use it in our stairwell, but i don't think I'll put it where you view it up close. I've also seen some great hacks with it on a blog or two.

What I don't like about the Maskros: the bulb is so exposed that it's quite bright and ugly unless you use a large round, frosted bulb but they don't fit in the housing and you are stuck with a regular bulb. Not attractive, I wish they made the housing covered in frosted plastic.

What I do love about the Maskros: you can stain the petals with anything from food coloring to watercolor or paint. Could be really fun!
