I was taught to leave the empty cardboard tube on the toilet seat if I couldn't find a new roll, to give fair warning to the hapless next occupant. These solutions are better!

the bath is still a work in progress, but so far, so good!
I agree with a previous comment that I don't like the idea of ANYTHING on the bathroom floor that may need to be handled (by me or guests.) Just too much yuck potential (and I'm not a germ-o-phobe - children SHOULD eat dirt and bugs!! - bathroom germs, though, that's just plain icky.)
There is another kind which is like a kitchen towel holder ( but different) you can put at least two on these.
