Where Would You Put the Tree? (one comment)

View Slideshow
It's that time again - Christmas decorating time. The part of the year when we rearrange all our furniture, for just a few weeks, to add a big, messy, tree into the mix.

Fortunately, at my house, I only have a minimum of rearranging to do, and my tree is in a prime spot both for the neighbors and for our family on Christmas morning. It's fun, though, to imagine where you'd put a tree in other rooms - it's like a little puzzle.

So where do you put your tree? And in the ten rooms below, where would you put it?
This first room might be too easy - that left-hand corner is begging for a big, modern tree. White tinsel, perhaps? Or purple?

In this space, you've got tons of great window space, but if you put your tree on the right, you lose the family room aspect of it. Then again, you might block a TV with the tree on the left.

This room is a bit of a puzzle, since the window is blocked by a built-in seat. I think I may still stick the tree in the corner, in front of the window - but I may also go for the spot in the middle of the room, just to the left of the loveseat.

In this room, I love the windows, but am afraid that placing the tree in front of them would keep it disconnected with the family seating area.

This room would require some rearranging. A nudge to the sofa and the tree could take prime window real estate, though.

Sfgirlbybay's family room is tight for a tree, so it would have to be a little guy - but those windows are great for one, aren't they?

Great windows, but all of this perfect symmetry makes it tough to figure out the best tree spot. I might actually move the sofa all the way to the other side of the room, where the photo was taken from, to place the tree where the sofa is now, while preserving the organization.

This room begs for a super formal tree, like the little Victorian one my grandmother gave me for my dollhouse when I was a kid. I would definitely place it in front of the window, though, after moving the chairs around the circle just a big.

I think the best bet in this room is to place the tree at the back of the chairs - on Christmas day, everyone can turn their chairs to face it.

I love this space, and I would definitely love to place a huge tree right in front of that enormous window.

Happy decorating, everyone!

We are going Christmas tree cutting in the mountains today (Santa Cruz Mountains, California) and I am just thinking about where to put my tree. We rearranged our (tiny) living room just a bit since last year after adding a little reading nook and I really hate to lose that space (I want to keep my reading nook!). I think this year thr tree thing may create an opportunity to rearrange the whole room. I may end up rethinking my whole arrangement...
