Happy Color: A Rainbow of Dressers
A dresser is the perfect place to experiment with a bold shot of color for your mix
I live in a loft in Brooklyn, a recent transplant to Greenpoint (love my neighborhood!). I work as a freelance writer, blogger, stylist, gilder, and crafter. I curate a daily personal lifestyle blog called the Haystack Needle (http://www.thehaystackneedleonline.com). I'm also one half of the shop Cabin 7 (http://www.shopcabin7.com) — a collection of gilded objects for the home. I started out in magazines, working in the home department of Real Simple magazine and later worked as the home editor of Redbook. I love to scout cool finds for the home — everything from an amazing loveseat to a green laundry detergent that really works. I'm a new mama to our baby girl, Juniper, who amazes me every day with her curiosity for life and big smiles.

A generation ago, people typically bought their bedroom furniture as a set: the dresser with matching mirror and matching bed frame. Nowadays we do quite the opposite — everything is about mixing and matching and decorating with furniture that's unique to our personal style. And we're not afraid to add color. A dresser in a bold color instantly makes it stand out as the accent piece in a room. What color suits your bedroom? Choose from the rainbow of inspiration.

Bright, bold, vintage, modern — this dresser has it all. With its daring red color, this dresser calls out for attention.
Tip: Red has many shades — be sure to pick a red that feels in tune with the style of your space. A rich red like this dresser feels more global in style (especially paired with black), while a chalky red can read cottage style.

Outlined in orange, this vintage modern dresser has an out-of-box style. The orange color naturally feels more mod, while the lines of this dresser feel more classic. I love how the orange looks against the natural grain of the wood-paneled floor and wall.

| This dresser is painted a yellow that simply spells cheerful. And for now, it's doubling as a changing table. Don't be afraid to try a bright or intense color for a dresser. Choosing a color to paint furniture can be simply based on a color you love. As an accent color, yellow sings. |
This color of green is so happy. It's a little preppy, a little whimsical, a little mod — and the perfect color to stand out from the brown-and-white striped walls.
Tip: A colorful dresser doesn't just look pretty — it adds dimension and movement to a room. In this nursery, the walls are painted with brown and white horizontal stripes. A neutral dresser — in white, black, or simply stained wood — would recede into the background. But a bold color, like this kelly green, creates contrast with the stripes.

A softer shade of green pairs perfectly with a ballerina pink for a girl's room.
Tip: In general, colors that are bold and vibrant (like the orange and green we saw previously) fit right into a more modern space. A softer, color palette, like this pale green, works well with a vintage style space. These colors almost look like they've been aged.

This shade of blue has a cottage style. There's a crispness to this bedroom with all the whites and navy, and this softer shade of blue makes the room feel more cozy.

The regal shade of blue is the perfect color for this ornate vintage dresser with its shiny brass hardware. The color suits the personality of the piece.
| I spy a deep purple dresser that captures the bohemian spirit of this space. The mix of purples and grays adds a modern spin. More: 50 Great Gifts for Color Lovers Bold Color: Yes You Can A Rainbow of Kitchen Stools |

Jamie Jay Very odd how the rest of the room don't have any colors that compliment the dresser.
