| Consider changing out outdated tiling for a newer look in a spa-inspired color. Small tiles like this add color AND texture. And check out the sink. |
Debstone, I'm not quite sure who "Ms LA" is, but I'll respond myself by mentioning that many of these bathrooms WERE tricky before their renovation, which of course does take money proportional to the level of change you're wanting to accomplish. However, the Apartment Therapy photo exhibits that it doesn't take more than some paint, wallpaper, and elbow grease to revolutionize a bathroom's look. And imagination.
A note about wallpaper. It does not fare well in a bathroom that is not properly vented. The humidity will eventually cause it to peel up. I recently had to strip the wallpaper off our bathroom walls, then patch and resurface the walls. I finally painted the walls w/ semigloss paint to withstand the dampness. Consider this potential hassle when choosing a wallpaper design anywhere in your home. The stuff I removed was '80s Southwestern style (which was here when we bought the house). Unless you choose a pattern that is compatible w/ the period style of your house, rather than something that is trendy, it will be dated before too long.
