I have used sheets for curtains for years. Now, with the new clip-ons they are even easier to make. Sometimes I make Japanese style tab curtains.

Saris make wonderful, flamboyant window dressings. I use them at the full 6 yard length, swoop them over a curtain rod, and let them pooch up on the floor. Available at Indian sari stores in SF and Berkeley.

And I use antique, blue or green 1/2 gallon canning jars as cannisters. I have about 20 of them filled with rice, dried beans and peas. They stretch along the countertop and match beautifully.

Love DIYers and the ideas they come up with! I am a DIYer myself and just finished this cloffice nook. I painted a weathered, rusted effect on 2 recycled doors and used them as the backdrop for the office storage and workspace I created.
