Must Have Table Lamps

A comprehensive "design therapy" plan always includes a little light therapy. There are many elements to an effective lighting plan, but in this ideabook, I'm just going to focus on the table lamp.

Table lamps are a terrific way to easily and afford-ably add some wow and sophistication to your space. Whether you're shopping for new table lamps or considering making over some lamps you already own, here are a few doses of darling lighting prescription's we highly recommend!

The lamp with a clear base is the "little black dress" of table lamps, in my opinion. You've got to have at least one!

The clear-based lamp brings in much needed accent light, but doesn't overwhelm the space or steal the show from other attention-worth items in the space. (In this case, the art work and that AMAZING dining table.

The smokey gray base is a cool alternative to the clear base.

A table lamp is a great way to add a dose/pop of color into your space.

Take two and call me in the morning. Sometimes you just need to double up on that dose of color pop.

Check it... the color pop was brought in with the lamp shade, as opposed to the lamp base. Don't underestimate the power of a lamp shade.

Don't forget the metallic finishes when adding, updating or repainting table lamps in your home. (Use extreme caution with polished brass, though -- bleck.) Notice the black lamp shade as opposed to going with the more common white or cream. The black brings an element of sophistication that a white shade couldn't handle.

The geometric shapes in the base and the shade bring a little more of a modern element to this eclectic space.

A much more traditional look, but lovely, indeed. Très chinoiserie chic!
