start with living spaces under a roof with large in/out carpet, grilling/eating area then "play" area with grass cover line entire area with built in boxes with trees, evergreens underplanted with dead nettle and lily of the valley to unite entire roof. then smaller window boxes and pots for color/flowers and veggies.
add clear plastic roof on pergola

like the lighted panels and protected outdoor room
like the barrel idea for bar or side table ( storage inside)

bamboo screen, but evergreen better for nyc
great idea for shutters and mirrors for back wall of patio
good roof and privacy wall
give nik some of my thyme
privacy and more safety for jack
privacy walls with air flow
nice garden, artificial grass looks not too bad
wall that doesn't block entire view
potted plants that can be used indoors for winter then moved out to special "planting boxes"
love the idea of raised planter boxes on top of concrete or brick wall. they need to be secured and if not just have tall boxes in front of wall, i would put some evergreen shrub like box wood for winter color and privacy.
a cute pergola like this one, paired with a perfectly positioned fireplace wall, conveniently blocks neighbors from seeing your dinner party.
can have clear greenhouse roofing (plastic) with this shade cloth under for summer.
good idea to have a fan in your garden room ceiling
nik, we'll replace the xmas poinsettias with these magnolia flowers in your dining table arrangement
