The Elephant in the Room
Houzz Contributor. Hi There! I currently live in a 1920s cottage in Atlanta that I'll describe as "collected."
I got into design via Landscape Architecture, which I studied at the University of Virginia. I've been writing about design online for quite a few years over at Hatch: The Design Public Blog.

This may be one silly ideabook, but I could not help myself. For some reason I just love elephants, and I realized I have a bunch of elephant things here and there around my house. A slew of my favorite designers and retailers have elephant items - Jonathan Adler, John Derian, Horchow, Armour and Co. and many more all carry items ranging from ceramic elephant tables to vintage images decoupaged onto tiny trays.
Perplexed as to why so many of us want to have a little elephant of our own in our homes, I did a quick internet search and stumbled onto What's Your Sign dot com. According to the site, Hindu thought believes that elephants bring luck and protection. In Western cultures, elephants mean reliability, dignity, and power. As a Chinese symbol, elephants are symbols of happiness. No wonder we like having them around!

All of these elephants are reminding me of how much I loved World Bazaar in the '80s. When you take one item out of the piles and piles like stuff around it can be a showstopper!
Anne, I'm going upstairs to have that elephant face the door right now!
They do make one happy, don't they? I love 'em!
